The first day of school is here, and I couldn’t be more excited to see your bright-eyed kids bounding (or sleepily shuffling) onto campus. There’s something magical about this moment: the hum of fresh starts, the quiet buzz of backpacks filled with sharpened pencils and new possibilities.

 

This is also my first year as PTSA President, and in many ways, I feel like a new student too—learning the ropes, meeting new faces, and hoping I packed everything I need to start strong. Thankfully, I’m surrounded by a team of brilliant board members who’ve been working hard all summer to make this year meaningful for every student and family.

 

Whether you’re brand new to Cadence Park or returning for another round, I’m so glad you’re here. This is your community, and I can’t wait to see what we build together.

We’re lucky to have you! Our 2025–2026 PTSA Membership Drive runs August 25 to September 5, and our goal is 500 members. Membership is only $20 per person, and every member of your family can join, including parents, grandparents, guardians, and students.

 

When you join, you are helping to power the programs, events, field trips, and classroom extras that make Cadence Park such a special place for our kids. Strong membership also gives our school a stronger voice, showing the district and community how much our families care. 🍀

We’re so excited to introduce Pumas Care, a new PTSA-led program all about community service, civic engagement, and student advocacy. If you’ve ever thought, “How can we give back?”—this is your moment.

 

We know our Cadence Park community has a big heart—and now we have a dedicated program to help us focus that kindness and turn it into real impact, not just on campus, but across our city.

 

We’re kicking things off with our first event: the Backpack & School Supply Donation Drive, in partnership with United Way. It’s a simple way to help another student start the year strong. Just toss a few extra items in your cart or shop from our online wishlist!

Our four Summer Meet-Ups were a huge success! From preschoolers to middle schoolers, Pumas of all ages showed up in full force — ready to play, reconnect, and soak up the last days of summer together. It was heartwarming to see how eager our students were to jump back into community, whether they were catching up with old friends or making brand-new ones.

 

We held separate meet-ups for PK/Kinder, Lower Elementary (Grades 1–3), Upper Elementary (Grades 4–5), and Middle School (Grades 6–8) — and every single one had an incredible turnout. The energy was high, the laughter was loud, and the sense of belonging was unmistakable.

 

A big thank you to our Meet-Up Coordinators: Anita Bhat, Alice Lee, Onechang Lee, Courtney Ikuta, Shaily Gupta, Diana Tran-Kim, and Samina Khan — and an extra shoutout to our Summer Meet-Up Chairs, Jubina Bhaijee and Eyris Polzine, for making it all happen!

On Thursday, August 15th, our PTSA team gave the Staff Lounge a fresh restock—our way of saying: We’re so glad you’re back! When our amazing faculty walked in and saw the shelves filled, the snacks stocked, and everything ready for the year ahead, the excitement was real. It’s a small gesture, but one that brings joy, comfort, and energy to the incredible people who make our school hum.

 

Huge thanks to the all-star volunteer crew who came early to set everything up: Amy Chan, Itzi Cori, Xiaoxiao Gu, Hani Keyvan, Oliver Chan, Jyothirmai Pallaboina, Eyris Polzine, Sarah Tobe, and Michelle Villanueva.

Board Positions

VP of Ways & Means
This is our biggest open role and one of the most important! The VP of Ways & Means leads PTSA fundraising efforts, but don’t worry — you won’t be doing it alone. We already have a Fall Fundraiser theme locked in and a hardworking committee putting the details together. What we need is a steady, creative leader to help guide the process, support the team, and keep things moving. You’ll also help coordinate our Spring Obstacle Course fundraiser and connect with local businesses for sponsorships.

 

Outreach Coordinator
A perfect fit for someone who values community, connection, and inclusion. The Outreach Coordinator helps support some of our most heart-forward programs — like Pumajama, Pumas Care, and Cub to Puma — while also organizing a couple of parent education events during the year. You’ll be a friendly ambassador for the PTSA, encouraging involvement and helping families feel welcomed and informed.

One of our most beloved traditions! This year’s event features a Trunk-or-Treat and outdoor Movie Night, and we’re looking for a fun-loving chair to help bring it all to life.

This special evening helps 5th and 6th grade students (and their parents) learn about puberty in a safe, supportive space.

 

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Chair

If you love to celebrate people, this is the role for you! From catered lunches and thoughtful gifts to lounge décor and restocks, you’ll help lead a joyful expression of thanks.
